Urology Centre Salisbury consists of a close-knit group of urologists, specialist nurses and administrative staff, offering a team approach to quality evidence-based care.
A wide range of treatments are offered to patients with urology problems from Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. These include problems that arise in the kidney, bladder, prostate, penis and testicles, including cancer or suspected cancer. You can find more information on conditions we treat under 'Urology Problems' on this webpage.
Spinal Injuries
We have a significant role to play in the care of patients with spinal injuries who attend the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Centre here in Salisbury. This work is led by one of our senior consultants who specialises in this area of expertise. Patients are referred from the whole of the South of England from Dover to Cornwall and the Channel Islands. Approximately 6000 investigations, procedures and operations are performed each year and a similar number of appointments are made for patients in the outpatients clinics in Salisbury and the surrounding area. Through regular team meetings, special cases are discussed and treatments planned.

Patient Care
A multidisciplinary approach is central to all aspects of patient care and the team takes pride in monitoring and improving performance. We have two multidisciplinary meetings per week – one provides a platform for the latest research to be presented and discussed and the other to address the diagnosis and treatment plan for each new cancer patient.

Patient-centred Approach
In recent months new technology is allowing on-going review of the department’s efficiency and clinical outcomes - the latter being informed directly by patients themselves through a variety of questionnaires. It is this patient-centred approach that gained the team national recognition for patient and public involvement when it won the ‘Involvement to Impact in Hospital Care’ Award in 2007 for the way it used patients' views to improve services. Before designing our webpages, patients were asked about the information that they would like to see - the outcome is a group effort, which we hope you will find helpful.
Our staff at Salisbury District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of ¾¨Ó㴫ý Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
