Jayne Sheppard - Lead Governor

Jayne has worked at Salisbury District Hospital since 2000 in a variety of nursing roles across the trust, and has served as the Staff Governor for Nursing and Midwifery constituency over the last 6 years. In her current role as Divisional Head of Nursing she has been able to provide the Trust board and Governors an accurate account of staff experiences working within the hospital.

In 2022 Jayne was elected by the Council of Governors as Deputy Lead Governor. In 2023, Jayne took over the role of Lead Governor. During this time, Jayne has organised Council of Governor meetings, Governor development sessions and informal discussions with Non-Executive Directors, ensuring that there were clear lines of communication from staff to governors or executives. Jayne has biweekly meetings with the Chair of the Trust to discuss trust wide issues and raise any concerns of which she then communicated back to both the Council of Governors and her constituents.

As a governor Jayne has been involved in the appointment of the Chair and Non-executive directors over the last two years. Attending Trust board and other committees has enabled Jayne to remain fully informed and contribute to key trust discussions ensuring that nursing and midwifery views are considered.

Jayne's strong clinical background has been incredibly important for the Council of Governors and has ensured that the Trust continues to deliver its vision of an outstanding experience for population, people and partners and to help nonclinical Governors understand the complexity of balancing performance, quality, sustainability and equity in the work that we do.

Jayne lives in Salisbury and is married with two children.
