Answer To Question 1: Labour ward - Oldest CTG in use today purchased in 2016, newest 2023. The Maternity unit have recently purchased 8 new CTG machines in February 2023 so the oldest machine in use will become 2019 (from March 2023). We do not use CTG machines in the Birthing Centre | |

Answer To Question 3: The Alongside Midwifery Unit (birthing centre) opened 31/10/22. We do not employ midwives solely for the Alongside Midwifery Unit, we have a total clinical workforce budgeted = 89wte. | |

Answer To Question 4: We do not employ Obstetricians solely for the obstetric service, Obstetricians are not employed for the birth centre, they are a shared workforce between Obstetric and Gynaecology activity. Budgeted WTE for Obstetrics and Gynaecology consultants are 11.2wte | |
Question Number 5: For an emergency antenatal appointment, what is the average wait time between a patient calling the unit and receiving an in person appointment? Please provide this information for the last five calendar years - 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018 | |
Answer To Question 5: Clarification sought for the information required to answer this question - from the requestor - for this purpose 'emergency appointment' would be any appointment that requires patients to see a health professional. For instance, an ultrasound scan in early pregnancy if a miscarriage is suspected, or fetal heart monitoring if movements have decreased. We are unable to provide average wait times as it is specific to the condition that the patient presents with, we do not collect data on wait times. Various clinical pathways are used to ensure a patient attends within the correct timeframe - for instance reduced fetal movements the patient would be asked to attend straight away. For miscarriage a scan would be dependant on the clinical picture. | |
