Request Summary: Clinical negligence claims in the maternity sector
Request Category: Private Individuals
Question Number 1: Please provide me with an annual breakdown of the total number successful clinical negligence claims made against the trust in the maternity sector and the total value of the damages paid out in the maternity sector, broken down at a site-level. I am specifically requesting the information at a site-level, not at the trust-level. That means the data you provide should be broken down by individual sites - e.g. separate data for a hospital the trust manages, as well as a midwife-led unit. Please indicate if a site is a midwife-led unit i.e. freestanding from a hospital. Please provide this data for the latest five years for which it is available. Could the Data be provided in the format of two tables, one for total number of claims and a second for the total value of damages. Each row would represent a site, and each column would be a year.
Answer To Question 1: All information regarding damages payments relating to Maternity Claims against the Trust should be directed to the ¾¨Ó㴫ýR (National Health Service Resolution) as these are not paid directly by the Trust, the ¾¨Ó㴫ýR keep all data relating to all Maternity claims when damages have been paid out.
